ABOUT THE PROJECT
Who Are You?
We are a NYC based organization. We create individual performance experiences that change the way we observe the world. |
MileWalks started in 2015 as an outgrowth of observation classes and exercises taught by Scott Illingworth, an Assistant Arts Professor in the Graduate Acting Program at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. He worked with graduates Jonathan Dent and Morgan Everitt to experiment with the idea and develop the initial walks.

How do you select the walks?
We ask a few questions when planning a walk:
1. Are the start and end reasonably accessible via public transit? 2. Does the walk include a variety of things to see that people might respond to uniquely? 3. Is it too near or similar to an existing walk? As we expand, we're counting on participants to help us identify interesting walks in their own communities - rather than coming in and deciding on a walk without any context. |
How can I support the project?
MileWalks is free for a reason. We want zero barriers to participation. We have no paid staff and won't ever charge walkers. Any money you donate will go directly to supporting the website, adding new walks, and buying and maintaining mp3 players for use by walkers who don't have one of their own.
We value even your smallest donation.
